Costituito a ottobre 2019 con un accordo sottoscritto dai due Atenei e rinnovato a settembre 2023, con conseguente attualizzazione di finalità e obiettivi, il Centro di ricerca interuniversitario Scienza Nuova “Umberto Eco” promuove attività di ricerca e condivisione della conoscenza su temi che intersecano aree disciplinari e tematiche differenti, accomunate, principalmente ma non esclusivamente, dal focus sul rapporto tra tecnologie digitali e scienze umane.
I temi che animano il Centro sono affrontati con metodologia transdisciplinare e da prospettive sia umanistiche sia tecnologiche, con molteplici obiettivi:
